Bad Blood 2011 Suomenlinna / Helsinki

Performance/ photo
In Bad Blood a man is being treated with the ancient healing method of (wet)cupping. Standing outside, he is facing his environment- the nature, the city and the sea and bowing to it. The blood is dropping on the rocks, the bodily fluid mixing with the rocks and the seawater, as in a natural lifecycle. The title Bad Blood refers, next to the therapy method where the blood is literally sucked out of the body, to the relations of man with socio-political, and environmental issues as well as of identity, cultural geography and biology.
